It was founded by social worker and activist honorable Shri Durga Prasai, with Dr. Ram Babu Giri and Ms. Indira Giri, who envisage excellence in international standard medical education, research, and patient care, striving to create a learning environment that inspires future healthcare leaders and contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge and community health in Nepal.

Opened in 2012, B&C was the first Acute Tertiary care hospital in Eastern Nepal. It gives me pride that, B&C Medical College Teaching Hospital & Nepal's health and education sector research Center doctors and allied staff have been offering the best possible healthcare to patients from Nepal and abroad. Back then, I always dreamed of a prosperous society where could access good health and education for everyone in our own land, our own nation. On the contrary, those vast numbers of Nepali people traveled abroad for better health services and education because they believe that healthcare and education of that quality are not possible in the hospital and academic sectors of Nepal. We started to work for the drastic change in the sector of health and education in Nepal. As a result, with the motto of “Health, Education and Employment” we established this B&C Medical College, Teaching Hospital & Research Centre.
